A trip to Adelaide wouldn't be complete without a trip out to Kangaroo Island, so I booked on Sealink's 1 Day Kangaroo Island Experience. Firstly I must warn you that this is an extremely long day! I was picked up at 6.05am and dropped back at my hotel at 10.30pm. You hop on a bus to Cape Jervis (approximately 2 hours from Adelaide city) where you then are transferred to a ferry for 45mins before you reach Kangaroo Island. BUT, I tell you what, it is well worth the trip and there is also always the option of staying on the Island too.

The first stop on my 1 day experience was Seal Bay! And what an experience to walk on to the beach with dozens of Australian Sea Lions lazing away. It was pretty fascinating to watch these sleepy characters while being told that at times, if they feel threatened they can be quite aggressive and run at a fast speed. This photo is from a sleepy seal that was under the boardwalk you take to get out onto the beach.

We had a quick buffet style lunch on the island and then we were off to spot some koalas at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Interestingly they introduced koalas on to the island in 1920. We were lucky enough to see some wild kangaroos, including a joey!

Our next stop was the Remarkable Rocks and as the name suggests, they were quite remarkable! Set above the coast line, these rocks have been formed by the elements themselves. It was fascinating walking around them and also taking in the magnificent views for this part of the Island.

Admirals Arch was our next destination and as you walk down the wooden boardwalk you are mesmerised by the incredible view that stands before you. So much so, that you may not even notice the Long-nosed Fur Seals that are sprawled across the rocks...I know I didn't until someone pointed them out to me! Continuing along the path you are rewarded by the Remarkable Rocks in the distance before heading down to Admirals Arch. This is truely a spectacular part of the island.

We then started the journey back to the ferry and I am not going to lie, I was quite worried about when/where I was going to get dinner. Luckily Sealink had thought about this too and our coach driver stopped of in the small town just before the ferry terminal for us to get some supplies. The ferry back to Cape Jervis allowed us an amazing view of the sunset as we waved goodbye to Kangaroo Island.
